Brockport, NY- The Brockport ice hockey team came up short in Friday's matchup at Nazareth, 3-2, on February 14th. The Golden Eagles dropped to 4-17-2 overall and 2-15 in UCHC play.
Following a scoreless opening period, Brockport came out of the gates soaring in the second, with
Chase Maxwell connecting on the powerplay at 0:45 to put Brockport up 1-0 early in the second period.
Victor Malzahn and
Jacob Gates would chip in with assists on the Maxwell PP goal.
Following a quick Nazareth response to tie the game at 1-1,
Aidan Taylor and
Mitchell Haight would find
Matt Anastasio to put Brockport back ahead 2-1 at 14:39 in the second period. The Golden Flyers would get the final tally of the period, with Anthony Quinlivan lighting the lamp to send the game into the third tied at 2-2.
At the 6:30 mark of the third, Nazareth would take its first lead of the contest, thanks to Alex Erlain's tie-breaking tally to go up 3-2.
The Golden Eagles would find its share of chances in the third, including
Victor Malzahn's chance with seven seconds remaining. Brockport would be unable to break through, suffering a 3-2 loss on the road.
Dax Easter would post a solid performance in the loss, saving 27 of the 30 shots he faced.
Sacha Trudel would shine in the faceoff circle, winning 14 of 20 draws (70%).
