Box Score Brockport, NY- The Brockport women's basketball team picked up a 75-72 victory at Houghton on Saturday, February 15
th. After the win, Brockport improved to 21-3 overall and 14-1 in Empire 8. The victory moves the Golden Eagles back into first place in the Empire 8.

Stephanie Jean-Baptiste was excellent for Brockport, leading the squad with 26 points and five steals, adding three rebounds and three assists.

Cam Tooley provided another efficient outing, scoring 16 points on 5-6 shooting from the floor, adding seven rebounds and four assists.

Shannon Blankenship rounded out the double-digit scorers for Brockport, scoring 13 points on 3-4 shooting from deep with four steals.

In the first quarter, the Golden Eagles took an early lead with
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste scoring a jumper following
Shannon Blankenship's steal and assist.
Cam Tooley extended the lead with consecutive successful layups, taking a lead of eight points at 6:21. However, the Highlanders responded with a series of buckets in the final minutes, resulting in a 17-13 lead for Houghton at the end of the first.

In the second quarter, Brockport matched the Highlanders point for point, with both teams posting 20 points each. Brockport saw strong defensive efforts, highlighted by
Peyton Maneri and
Claire Turner steals.
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste played a key offensive role throughout, scoring multiple times, including a critical layup at the end of the quarter to put Brockport down 37-33 at halftime.

In the third quarter,
Cam Tooley poured in crucial free throws, while
Shannon Blankenship's three-pointer at 2:46 gave Brockport a 49-48 lead. Despite several turnovers, Brockport's defense held firm, and Jean-Baptiste's consistent scoring helped maintain a competitive edge, leading to a 20-17 scoring advantage for the quarter.

Entering the final frame down one,
Shannon Blankenship initiated the scoring with a three-pointer, assisted by
Cam Tooley, at 9:45. Tooley was instrumental throughout, contributing with a layup and multiple assists. SJB played a crucial role in the final moments, scoring a layup and two free throws to tie the game at 69-69 and then again at 71-71. Tooley's layup and subsequent free throws in the closing seconds sealed the 75-72 win for Brockport.

Despite shooting just 30% from deep compared to 40% for Houghton, the Golden Eagles would ride 21 made free throws to secure the win.
