Brockport, NY- The Brockport women's basketball team defeated Geneseo, 75-62, on Play4Kay to earn the Empire 8 Regular Season Championship on Tuesday, February 18. The win moves Brockport to 22-3 overall and 15-1 in E8 play, securing home court advantage throughout the Empire 8 Tournament.
 
In just 13 minutes of action, Mandy Brink led Brockport with 16 points on efficient 6-9 shooting and 50% shooting from three (3-6).
 
Cam Tooley provided another dynamic performance, dropping 15 points with nine rebounds and seven assists.
 
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste poured in 11 points on solid 5-10 shooting from the floor.
 
Shannon Blankenship rounded out the double-digit scorers for Brockport, dropping 10 points with four rebounds.
 
Peyton Maneri was excellent defensively, snatching a game-high seven steals with five rebounds.
 
In the first quarter, Brockport took an early lead with Stephanie Jean-Baptiste connecting on a three-pointer at 8:40, assisted by Kaileigh Hunt. Shannon Blankenship contributed significantly with two three-pointers in quick succession, pushing the lead to 9-4. Later in the quarter, Mandy Brink scored five consecutive points with a three-pointer and a fast-break layup, assisted by Peyton Maneri and Jackie Kozakiewicz, helping the Golden Eagles finish the quarter ahead 18-17.   
 
In the second quarter, the Golden Eagles showcased a strong offensive effort, led by Kaileigh Hunt and Cam Tooley, who each contributed significantly in the paint. Hunt's layup at 7:03 and her subsequent tip-in at 5:16 helped maintain the squad's lead. Tooley added to the momentum with a key layup with four seconds left, keeping the game competitive despite the Knights' late push. Throughout the quarter, Brockport displayed resilience, with Shannon Blankenship securing critical rebounds and a steal in the final seconds, though they would trail 38-35 going into halftime.
 
 The Golden Eagles opened the third quarter with several strong defensive efforts, highlighted by Peyton Maneri's immediate steal at 9:50, leading to her layup to put Brockport up one.. Cam Tooley also contributed significantly with a fast-break layup at 9:00 and a three-pointer at 8:25, assisted by Stephanie Jean-Baptiste, helping Brockport regain momentum. Mandy Brink played a crucial role in the latter part of the quarter, scoring a three-pointer at 2:01, assisted by Maneri, and a jumper at 3:04, leading Brockport to a 22-15 scoring advantage in the quarter and a lead of 57-53 entering the fourth.
 
The fourth quarter saw Brockport run away with the contest, outscoring Geneseo 18-9. Mandy Brink initiated scoring for Brockport with a jumper at 9:00, assisted by Cam Tooley. Stephanie Jean-Baptiste contributed significantly with back-to-back layups, increasing the home team's lead to 65-54 by 6:53. Jackie Kozakiewicz added a three-pointer at 6:15, further solidifying Brockport's advantage. The quarter was marked by strong defensive rebounds from Peyton Maneri and Kaileigh Hunt, while Brockport maintained control through effective offensive plays and limiting turnovers to earn the 13-point win.
