Brockport, NY- The Brockport baseball team opened the 2025 season with a doubleheader sweep of William Peace on Saturday, February 22
nd, in North Carolina. The Golden Eagles took game one in a 12-0 rout before defeating the Pacers 6-3 in game two.

Game One:

Brockport jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, highlighted by
Matthew Coon's three-RBI double to left field, bringing home Josh Index,
Jason Story, and
Kyle Blake.
Â
In the third inning, the Golden Eagles extended their lead, with Index singling to set the stage for
Zach Eldred, who would smash a two-run homer to right field to put Brockport up 5-0.

The fourth inning saw Brockport increase their advantage with a four-run surge. Josh Index's walk and two RBIs from Eldred were key in the inning, putting Brockport up 9-0.

Brockport's offense continued to shine in the eighth inning as Eldred connected for a two-run homer, with
Jason Story following up with a solo shot. The Brockport pitching staff would hold William Peace to just one hit, leading to the 12-0 win.

Zach Eldred would finish with a game-high six RBIs from three hits.

Anthony Lapine went 5 1/3 innings on the bump, allowing no hits and no earned runs while striking out six batters.

Brockport took an early lead in the first inning, with

Jason Story singled to right field, extending the lead to 2-0 for the Golden Eagles.

The eighth inning was pivotal for Brockport, as they managed to come back with a four-run surge.
Erik Gersfeld's single up the middle brought home James Simoncell, and Josh Index's two-RBI single widened the margin. Eldred's sacrifice fly added another run, helping give Brockport the 6-3 win.

Ryan Peters (W, 1-0) picked up the win, going 2 innings with one run allowed and a strikeout.

Nick Ianniello (S,1) shut the door for the Golden Eagles, tossing two scoreless innings with three punchouts.
