Brockport, NY- The top-seeded Brockport women's basketball team will host #4 seed Nazareth in the Empire 8 Semifinals on Tuesday, February 25
th, at 5:30 p.m.
Last Outing: The Golden Eagles soared past #8 seed Elmira, 101-62, in the Empire 8 Quarterfinals on Saturday, February 22
nd. Brockport moved to 23-3 overall and 15-1 in Empire 8 matchups.
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste led all scorers with 25 points in 22 minutes off the bench on 9-17 shooting, adding three steals.
Kaileigh Hunt was excellent throughout, scoring 15 points (6-7 FG), grabbing ten rebounds, making four steals, and blocking two shots in a double-double effort.
Mandy Brink continued her strong play, pouring in 15 points with nine rebounds off the bench.
Shannon Blankenship (13 points, 3-5 3PT) and
Harmony Philo (10 points, 2-5 3PT) were excellent from beyond the arc, combining for 23 points.
ROTW X5: For the 5
th time this season,
Peyton Maneri earned E8 ROTW honors following another excellent defensive week for Brockport. Maneri averaged 5.0 points per game, 5.5 steals per game, 3.5 rebounds per game, and 3.5 assists per game as the Golden Eagles went 2-0 last weekend. In Brockport's regular-season finale against Geneseo, she posted a career-high seven steals.
Staying Hot: Currently riding a four-game winning streak, the Golden Eagles have put together an incredible stretch since early December. Beginning with a 46-point win over William Smith on December 16
th, Brockport has won 17 of their last 18 games, averaging a point differential of over 20 per game.
Scouting Nazareth: The Golden Flyers have hit a stride, posting a 20-6 record overall with a 13-3 mark in E8 play, currently holding a four-game winning streak. Nazareth rolled past Russell Sage, 71-48, to advance to the Empire 8 Tournament Semifinals. The Golden Eagles are looking for a repeat of February 7th's matchup, which saw Brockport protect the home floor with an 85-72 win.
