Clermont, FL – The SUNY Brockport softball team swept the two-game slate on Wednesday to improve to .500 on the season at 4-4 overall. Brockport defeated Augsburg, 10-3, and Knox, 11-3, to make it three wins in a row.
The Golden Eagles added a pair of new lines in the program record book after an incredible batting performance in the second game. As a team they hit six triples, setting a new single-game record.
Reagan Myers etched her name in individually, tying the single-game mark with two triples on her own.
Brockport 10, Augsburg 3 – Game 1 Final
Fiona Gibiser (W, 1-0) threw arguably the best game of her career to pick up her first win of the season. She went the full 7.0 innings, recorded a career-high eight strikeouts, and allowed just three earned runs.
Teresa Cotty stayed hot in the batter's box with a 3-for-4 outing, which included a double, one run scored, and one RBI.
Caitlyn Dailey followed suit with a trio of hits, going 3-for-3 with one RBI as well.
Aubrey Ennis and
Erin Dougherty both knocked in a pair of runs at the plate. Ennis hit a double in a 1-for-4 showing and Dougherty was also 1-for-4 to go with a run scored.
Brockport saw hits from all over the lineup in this one coming from
Olivia Simone (1-5),
Riley Barrett (1-4, 2 runs),
Grace Talbut (1-2, 1 RBI),
Isabella Moya (1-1, 1 run), and
Jackie DuTot (1-3).
In the top of the first inning, Augsburg came out hot offensively with three runs to start the game. The team from Minnesota took an early 3-0 lead, but it wouldn't last long.
In the bottom of the first, Brockport answered with three runs to tie the game back up at 3-3. The rest of the way, it was all Golden Eagles. Augsburg was held scoreless through the last six innings of action by Gibiser and a solid defensive outing for the squad.
After the three runs in the first, Brockport added one in the second, four more in the fourth, and two more in the fifth to create the 10-3 final.
Brockport 11, Knox 3 – Game 2 Final
After 13 hits in the first game of the day, the Green and Gold topped it in game two against Knox with 14 in record-breaking fashion. The team set the new single-game record with six triples in the contest, and
Reagan Myers tied the single-game record with two triples individually.
Four Golden Eagles had multiple hits in the contest, led by Myers' 3-for-3 outing with a pair of doubles, a pair of RBIs, and a pair of runs scored.
Olivia Simone went 2-for-4 (2 runs) with a triple,
Ciara Olivo was 2-for-3 (1 run, 1 RBI) with a triple, and
Jackie DuTot went 2-for-3 (2 runs, 1 RBI) with a triple as well.
Riley Barrett was 1-for-2 (2 runs, 2 RBIs) with a triple to add to the offensive explosion.
Teresa Cotty contributed two RBIs, going 1-for-4 in the contest.
Erin Dougherty went 1-for-2 (1 run) and
Caitlyn Dailey was 1-for-3 (1 run, 1 RBI).
Aubrey Ennis went 1-for-3 with two more RBIs for the squad.
Hadley Alguire (W, 1-1) notched her first win of the season as the starting pitcher. She went 4.1 innings, struck out two batters, allowed six hits, and just two earned runs in the victory. Collen Davis came in for the final two outs, getting both on just one pitch to close out the game.
Claiming two wins on the day, the Golden Eagles are now on a 3-game win streak for the first time since the 2022 season. They have two more games on the schedule down in Florida.
Brockport will face McDaniel College on Thursday at 10:30am and then will take on Keene State at 12:45pm to close out the team's showing in The Spring Games.
