Brockport, NY- The #12 Brockport baseball team completed a three-game sweep of Alfred, defeating the Saxons 15-1 on Sunday, April 27
th. The win moved Brockport to 30-3-2 overall and 19-1-1 in conference play, securing the Empire 8 Regular Season Championship and home field advantage throughout the Empire 8 Tournament.

Zach Eldred (2-4, 2B) would have a big day for Brockport, driving in two runs and scoring three times.

Anthony Lapine (W, 7-0) continued his excellent season, tossing six innings of one-run baseball with eight strikeouts.

Five Golden Eagles would record a stolen base, with
Zach Eldred (2) and
Frank Vanzillotta (2) leading the squad with two each.
Â
A big Brockport second inning would put the Golden Eagles up 5-0, highlighted by RBI hits from Vanzillotta, Eldred (2B), and
Kyle Blake.

The Saxons would add a run in the bottom of the second before Brockport would end the contest with 10 unanswered runs.
Matt Mayer and
James Dixon would both drive in runs in the third inning before a
James Dixon sacrifice fly would put Brockport up 8-1.

The fifth inning saw
Matt Mayer leave the yard with a solo home run, his fourth of the season, to push the Golden Eagles ahead 9-1.

Timothy Venditti would drive home two runs with a two-RBI single in the sixth before an Eldred RBI single in the seventh inning would highlight a four-run final frame.

Connor Villano would toss a scoreless final frame, collecting two strikeouts to preserve the 15-2 Golden Eagle win.

Matthew Coon led Brockport with three runs scored, reaching base safely three times with an RBI.

Victor Alongi provided another multi-hit outing, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored with a RBI.

Frank Vanzillotta went 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs and a run scored.
