#12 Golden Eagles Soar Past Ithaca, 8-3

Brockport, NY- The #12 Brockport baseball team defeated Ithaca in non-conference action, 8-3, on Tuesday, April 29th. The Golden Eagles improved to 31-3-2 overall following the victory in Ithaca.
 
Four Golden Eagles provided multi-hit outings, with Josh Indek (2-4, BB), Zach Eldred (2-5, HR), Kyle Blake (2-5), and Victor Alongi (2-3, 3 RBI) powering the Brockport offense.
 
Jason Story and James Dixon scored two runs each to lead the Golden Eagles.
 
Victor Alongi would put Brockport ahead early, ripping a two-RBI single to put Brockport 2-0 in the second inning.
 
Following a Bombers run in the bottom of the second, Alongi would strike again, scoring Matt Mayer with another RBI single, putting Brockport up 3-1. Cole Grazioplene's single in the fourth inning would push Brockport's lead to three.
 
Ithaca would fire back in the bottom of the fifth, launching a two-run homer to cut the Brockport lead to 4-3.
 
Brockport would continue to add insurance, with Jason Story scoring on an error in the sixth inning before Ryan Lenic's RBI single in the eighth put the Green and Gold up 7-3.
 
Putting an exclamation point on the win, Zach Eldred would launch his 17th home run of the season, giving Brockport an 8-3 win.
 
The Brockport bullpen would secure the win, with Nick Ianniello (2.1 IP, 2K), Thomas DiGirolomo (1.0 IP), Bryce Tyndell (0.1 IP), and Troy Leibert (0.1 IP) combining for four scoreless innings.
 
Matt Mayer was excellent at the plate, reaching base safely three times with a double, a run scored, and an RBI.
 
Up Next: Brockport will close out the regular season with a three-game set at Utica, beginning on Friday, May 2nd at 3 pm.
