Albany, NY – On Sunday, the Brockport softball team was swept on the road by Russell Sage in an E8 doubleheader. Sage took game one, 10-5, and game two, 13-5. The pair of losses puts Brockport at 13-21 overall and 5-15 in the conference.
Kellie Gentile celebrated two career milestones on Sunday against the Gators. The senior center fielder recorded the 100
th hit and 50
th stolen base of her career at Brockport.
Brockport 5, Russell Sage 10 – Game 1 Final
The hosting Gators got hot early to start the doubleheader, jumping out to a 6-0 lead through the first two innings. Brockport responded with three runs across the third and fourth inning, but Sage kept up to maintain a 6-run lead at 9-3.
Sage added a 10
th run in the fifth for a little extra cushion on the scoreboard. The Golden Eagles attempted to rally late with two runs in the sixth, but they ran out of steam for a game one loss.
Kellie Gentile was strong at the plate with a 3-for-4 showing that included two RBIs and one run scored.
Olivia Simone was 2-for-3 with an RBI, hitting behind Gentile in the lineup.
Aubrey Ennis connected for a double on the way to a 1-for-4 outing that featured two RBIs.
Natalie Faas reached base three times, going 2-for-2 with a walk on the way to scoring two runs.
Grace Talbut added a 1-for-3 game at the dish with a double.
Collen Davis (L, 6-10) started at pitcher in game one for Brockport. The freshman went 2.2 innings, allowing eight hits and four earned runs during her shift.
Laina Beer finished out the final 3.1 innings of action, giving up one earned run on three hits.
Brockport 5, Russell Sage 13 – Game 2 Final
Fiona Gibiser (L, 3-4) got the start in game two for the Green and Gold. The senior went 4.0 innings, allowed 10 hits, and five earned runs.
Hadley Alguire and
Colleen Davis both came in to help finish the game off.
Brockport started game two with runs in the first three innings to go up 5-3. However, the hosting Gators got their bats going to score 10-unanswered runs on the way to victory.
A big part of Brockport's early offense was a 2-run homer from
Reagan Myers, her second home run of the season. Myers went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a run scored in game two.
Paige Wentland was great at the dish in the middle of the lineup, going 3-for-4 in the contest.
Olivia Simone was 2-for-4 with a run, while
Kellie Gentile was 1-for-4 with a run.
Aubrey Ennis went 1-for-4 with an RBI, hitting third in the lineup.
The Golden Eagles are back at home on Tuesday, April 29
th for the final E8 doubleheader of the regular season. They will host Houghton University for a 3pm start to the set at Brockport's Clark V. Whited Complex.
