Men's Lacrosse's Season Ends in First Round Matchup at Hartwick

Brockport, NY- The Brockport men's lacrosse team dropped Tuesday's Empire 8 Tournament matchup at Hartwick, 12-11, on April 29th.
 
Jack Acker left it all on the turf, making 18 saves across 60 minutes of action in a strong effort.
 
Pierson Jacobs led Brockport with three goals and four points in an excellent effort.
 
The Hawks jumped out front early, outscoring Brockport 3-1 in the first quarter. Down 2-0, Nate Askin would net the lone Golden Eagle goal in the first.
 
Brockport would excel in the second quarter, outscoring the Hawks 4-2 to force a 5-5 halftime tie. Nate Askin, Micheal Dowden, Jacob Stine, and Pierson Jacobs would provide the scoring in the quarter.
 
Following a Hartwick goal to open the second half, Brockport would respond with three straight goals to take an 8-6 advantage. Carson Colucci, Daniel Wright, and Pierson Jacobs would net goals less than two minutes apart to give Brockport the lead.
 
At the 2:33 mark of the third, Marc Zappulla would put Brockport up 9-7 before a late goal from the Hawks moved Hartwick within one entering the final frame.
 
28 seconds removed from Luke Ward's game-tying goal; Jack Rice would put Brockport back ahead 10-9 with 11:20 remaining.
 
Hartwick would net three goals in 1:39 to jump ahead 12-10 with just six minutes remaining.
 
Jack Acker would provide a clutch assist to Pierson Jacobs's goal late in the fourth quarter, but the Brockport comeback would come too late as the Golden Eagles would fall 12-11.
 
Nicolas Ange led the Golden Eagles with eight groundballs, winning 17 of 26 faceoffs.
 
The Golden Eagles finish the season 8-9 overall and 5-4 in Empire 8 play, making the playoffs for the first time since 2022.
