Women's Lacrosse Posts Impressive Win Against SUNY Poly

Brockport, NY – The women's lacrosse team brought the heat against the SUNY Poly Wildcats taking the 18-1 victory today on home turf. The Golden Eagles are now 3-7 overall on the season and 2-1 in the E8 Conference. 

The first quarter was all Brockport, outshooting the Wildcats 6-0. Hailey Lewkovich wasted no time putting in a goal in the first minute assisted by Alayna Foos. Foos took the second and handed it right back to Lewkovich taking the third with an assist from Karaline McCarthy. Jazmin Medina made her first of the day and Sarah Kilburn did the same with an assist from Medina. Medina's momentum continued as she added one last goal before the end of the first.  

The Green and Gold took control yet again in the second quarter with Alayna Foos adding a goal to the total from a free position. Karaline McCarthy added one on with an assist from Jazmin Medina and Amanda Evans came shortly after with an unassisted score. Payton Tyszka made her first goal of the season with an assist from Amanda Evans and McCarthy brought her total up with an assist from Foos. McCarthy then had a successful free position shot  and assisted Sarah Kilburn in a goal. Just before the quarter ended, Paige Thowe snuck her first score of the day past the goalkeeper taking the Golden Eagles up to 14. 

Coming back from the halftime break, Brockport dominated yet again with Jazmin Medina starting off the streak assisted by Alayna Foos. Foos found the back of the net shortly after from Karaline McCarthy and then assisted Hailey Lewkovich for another goal. Finishing off the quarter was Olivia Magin for her first of the season with an assist from McCarthy. 

The fourth quarter was quiet as the Wildcats made their first of the game just a minute in, outscoring Brockport 1-0. 

Alayna Foos and Karaline McCarthy both earned a strong seven points from three goals and four assists. Jazmin Medina also had a day with three goals and two assists for five points and Hailey Lewkovich also added three goals to the total. Arianna Reed and Makenna Cady were both in net for the Green and Gold with Cady making three saves on the day. 

Up Next – Brockport is back on the road next week as they head to Alfred, NY to face the Alfred University Saxons on Wednesday, April 9th at 5pm. They then will travel to Utica University on Saturday, April 12th for a 1pm start.
