Brockport, NY – The men's and women's outdoor track and field teams finished up day 2 of the Empire 8 Outdoor Track and Field Championships with impressive results.
The men's team finished in second place with a total of 199 points and the women's team also finished up in second place with 149.5 points.
Men's Team:
Tyler Miller participated in the men's decathlon for Brockport and clinched a third place finish with 5767 points. In the discuss, Miller took a strong first place at 35.80m, second in the pole vault at 4.35m, second in the javelin from a 42.29m throw, and third in the 1500 at 5:07.16.
The men's 4x100 team of
Kevin Brown,
Michael Durski,
Aaron Ottenwalder, and Derek Grinshaw took the silver medal with an AARTFC qualifying time of 41.95 seconds.
In the 1500,
Jonathan Zavala also finished in second with a regional qualifying mark of 3:50.05.
Jeremy Chen took the silver medal home in the 110m hurdles at 14.99 seconds and
Kevin Brown took fourth at 15.34 seconds.
Derek Grimshaw dominated in the 100m sprint taking the first place spot at 11.00 seconds and
Kevin Brown took fourth yet again at 11.14 seconds.
In the 800m race,
Owen Arbocus had a second place spot on the podium at 1:53.54 and
Brian Cappellini finished up in eighth at 1:56.87.
Brockport had the top three spots in the 400m hurdles with AARTFC qualifying times with
Jeremy Chen taking first at 54.18 seconds,
Ayden Grinion in second at 54.45 seconds, and
Timothy Smith in third at 54.47 seconds.
Michael Durski had a fifth place finish in the 200m sprint at 22.22 seconds,
Derek Grimshaw finished in seventh at 22.29 seconds, and
Cole Ferris took eighth at 22.35 seconds.
Patrick Klinger had a strong 5000m race, finishing in sixth with an AARTFC qualifying time of 14:51.61.
The 4x400 team consisting of
Michael Durski,
Jeremy Chen,
Cole Ferris, and
Ayden Grinion took home the silver medal with an AARTFC qualifying time of 3:18.21.
In the discus,
Duncan Harbin clinched a third place spot from a 40.22m throw, and
Matthew Muscolo finished in fourth at 40.04m.
Walking away with the bronze medal in the high jump was
Jack Valentine at 1.93m.
Cardin Chau took fourth at 1.85m and
Dillon Murphy had the eighth place spot at 1.80m.
In the shotput,
Nick Wright had a 14.08m throw good for fifth place and
Mitchell Ellsworth had a 13.96m throw good for sixth place.
Finishing out the day in the triple jump was
Dennis Bobbitt taking second at 13.94m.
Cameron Rynders finished up in seventh from a 13.33m jump and Quin Grover took eighth from a 12.64m leap.
Women's Team:
The women's 4x100 team of Alexis Rodriguez, Marissa Wise, Lily Rexford, and Courtney Bostin had a day taking second with an AARTFC qualifying time of 49.04 seconds.
Mia Vizcaino had a well deserved second place finish in the 1500 at an AARTFC qualifying time of 4:40.72.
In the 100m hurdles, Lily Rexford finish in seventh at a quick 16.81 seconds.
Jaylah Cossin took fourth in the women's 800m race at a regional qualifying mark of 2:16.85 and Ethne Degan took fifth at 2:17.82.
Alexis Rodriguez took the meet record in the 400m hurdles finishing with the gold medal from an AARTFC qualifying time of 1:02.86. Lily Rexford finished in seventh at 1:07.31 and Monica Cammarota
took eighth at 1:08.00.
Also taking a gold medal was Marissa Wise in the 200m sprint at a quick time of 24.84 seconds.
The 4x400 team consisting of Alexis Rodriguez, Monica Cammarota, Courtney Bostic, and Marissa Wise clinched third crossing the line at 4:02.58.
In the shotput, Rebecca Heuler had a fifth place spot on the podium from an 11.80m throw and Trinity Dees took sixth from an 11.58m throw.
In the discuss, Katrina Chandler took fourth at 34.77m, Rebecca Heuler had a sixth place finish at 33.67m, and Savana Henry finished in eighth from a 33.09m throw.
Finishing out the day strong in the high jump was Michael Levesque with a fourth place spot from a 1.55m jump. Sasha Schramm finished in fifth, clearing the pole at 1.50m, Justice Crane in sixth at 1.50m and Katie Pavelchak in a tie for seventh at 1.45m.
