Sandusky, OH - On Saturday, Brockport wrapped up its weekend trip at the Great Lakes Cross Over with a pair of losses. Brockport lost 3-1 to both Ohio Wesleyan and Salem, moving to 1-3 overall after opening weekend.
Brockport 1, Ohio Wesleyan 3 - Match 1 Final
OWU captured the first two match points, winning sets 1-2 by scores of 25-22 and 25-15.
The Golden Eagles bounced back with a win in the third set, 25-17. However, OWU finished it off in the fourth, 25-18, to seal the 3-1 win.
Freshman Ana Parella posted a team-high 10.5 points on seven kills, two aces, and two blocks (1 solo). Anna Cascapera chipped in with five kills, three service aces, and 11 digs.
Elsie Logan came away with 12 digs, while Kaitlyn Jewett totaled 29 assists and four aces.
Brockport 1, Salem 3 - Match 2 Final
In the final leg of the journey to Ohio, the Golden Eagles would see a similar result against Salem as with OWU.
Salem took the first set, 25-14, before going up 2-0 with a win in the second, 25-23.
Brockport stayed alive with a hard fought, 27-25, win in the third set. The fourth set saw Salem put an end to the match, thanks to a 25-17 effort to lock up the 3-1 win.Â
Anna Cascapera put forth a strong effort offensively with 11 kills and a pair of aces.
Setter Kaitlyn Jewett contributed all over with 24 assists, four aces, and seven digs. Fellow setter Grace Letterman racked up 15 assists, while Gianna Felipe led the squad with 17 digs defensively.
Now at 1-3 to start the 2025 campaign, the Golden Eagles return home next weekend to host their Brockport Invitational on Friday (9/5) and Saturday (9/6).
