BROCKPORT, N.Y- The Brockport Men's Soccer team came up short in their conference opener against Russell Sage from Albany, 2-1, on Saturday, September 13
th. The Golden Eagles fell to 1-3-1 overall and 0-1 in conference play following the loss.
Even with a lopsided 10-1 shots advantage, the two teams would enter the halftime break tied 1-1. The Gators would find the back of the net on their first of two shots on the afternoon, going up 1-0 at the 33:34 mark from Logan Diebold's goal.
The Green and Gold would be quick to answer, with
Jayden Green scoring less than seven minutes later.
Trevor Lagarde would add the assist on the Brockport goal.Â
Brockport continued to generate scoring chances in the second half, adding 22 shots for 32 in the contest.Â
Despite scoring chances from
Ryan Mathis,
Brady Reinagel, and
Trevor Lagarde, a Brockport miscue in the 54
th minute would lead the Gators to victory. A Brockport own-goal would serve as the game-winner for Sage.
Even with the Golden Eagles' scoring chances in the final moments, Russell Sage would escape with the 2-1 conference victory. Â
