Brockport, NY – The women's soccer team shutout the Russell Sage Gators 3-0 on home turf today to open up Empire 8 Conference play. This brings the Golden Eagles to 2-0-2 overall and starting strong in the conference at 1-0.
Brockport had a dominating start to the matchup after the ball found the back of the net from
Megan Gerber, for her first of the season, assisted by
Caitlin Nelson just 1:53 in. The Green and Gold kept control over the ball majority of the first half, with
Jordan Chizuk taking her chance with it, sneaking a quick goal in right before the break.
The Golden Eagles started out the second period on top yet again.
Felicity Contento put the ball right past the goalkeeper in between the pipes from
Diane Lange to put the squad up 3-0 to finish off the day.
Emily McCane started in goal for Brockport with one save.
Madeline McCrosson started the second period in goal and
Karissa Champion made her appearance to finish out the competition.
Megan Gerber led the team in shots with four overall and four on goal.
Caitlin Nelson had three shots, and
Brianna Marino,
Felicity Contento,
Lavanya Upadhyay, and
Jordan Chizuk all tied with two shots and one on goal.
Brockport showed out in shots with 21 overall and 12 on goal over Russell Sage's two with one on goal. The Golden Eagles also stayed on top with corner kick opportunities with five compared to the Gators one.
