BROCKPORT, NY - The Brockport Women's Basketball team will travel to Utica, NY, for a pair of conference matchups, beginning on Friday, January 15th at 5:30 PM. Brockport will then face off with SUNY Poly on Saturday, January 17th, at 2 PM.
Last Outing: Brockport defeated Keuka College on the road, 75-53, on Tuesday, January 13th. The Golden Eagles improved to 7-6 overall and 3-1 in conference play following the victory.
Stephanie Jean-Baptiste led all scorers and thrived at the free throw line, scoring a game-high 17 points with 7-8 shooting from the charity stripe, adding two steals and three rebounds in a strong performance.
Brianna Carey (10 PTS, 4-8 FG) and
Mandy Brink (9 PTS, 3-4 FG) showcased efficient shooting, with each adding a steal in the contest.
Claire Turner led the Brockport rebounding effort, snatching nine rebounds and adding four points with a steal.
Lila Lovgren was effective off the bench, scoring seven points on 60% shooting (3-5) with six rebounds and two assists.
Streaking From Deep: Playing 15+ minutes in each of her last nine games,
Addy VanDewater has provided much-needed scoring off the bench for the Green and Gold. VanDewater has connected from deep in each of her last seven games, scoring 5+ points in her last five outings. The freshman from Buffalo, NY, has maintained excellent efficiency on increased attempts, leading the squad with a 0.455 three-point percentage (15-33). She ranks tied for second in three-point makes despite attempting only the sixth-most three-pointers on the team.
Picking Pockets: A year removed from her team-leading 74 steal season,
Peyton Maneri continues to be a top defensive threat for the Golden Eagles. Maneri's 32 steals lead the Green and Gold and rank tied for third among all Empire 8 athletes. The Auburn, NY native has posted a steal or better in 12 of 13 outings for Brockport, snatching two steals or more in each of her last four games.
Scouting Utica: The Pioneers hold a 5-8 overall record and 1-3 mark, earning their first Empire 8 win over Hartwick (63-53) last Tuesday. The Golden Eagles have won the last six head-to-head matchups dating back to the 1989-90 season.
Scouting SUNY Poly: The Wildcats hold a 3-9 overall record and will look for their first conference win (0-4) at home against Geneseo on Friday. The Golden Eagles will look to build off a 91-36 victory in last year's meeting.
