KEUKA PARK, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's volleyball team dropped a hard-fought, five-set battle to Keuka College (20-25, 25-18, 25-18, 23-25, 14-16) on Saturday afternoon at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center. With the tight conference decision, the Golden Eagles move to 7-8 overall and 1-3 in Empire 8 play.
The back-and-forth affair featured 18 tie scores and nine lead changes as both sides battled through grueling rallies. After dropping the opening frame, Brockport responded with strong defensive pressure and consistent offensive execution to capture the second and third sets, taking a 2-1 match lead. Keuka clawed back to take a tight fourth set, forcing a decisive fifth frame where the Wolves edged out the hosts 16-14 to secure the match.
Luba Butcher paced the Golden Eagles' attack with a double-double, putting down 13 kills while digging out 18 balls to go along with two solo blocks and three block assists.
Kaylee Dickerson-Holly chipped in 11 kills and 14 digs, while
Maddy Howell added eight kills and four blocks off the bench.
Ana Parella was highly efficient in the middle, contributing six kills on an impressive .545 hitting percentage along with five total blocks (one solo).
Running the offense,
Kaitlyn Jewett dished out 22 assists and three service aces while collecting 12 digs, and
Ava Baty added 13 assists and five digs. Defensively, libero
Elsie Logan anchored the backline with a game-high 35 digs, and
Grace Ippoliti added 12 digs and three aces.
