Brockport, NY – The Brockport women's soccer team returned to the win column on this afternoon, defeating Hartwick College 1-0 in Empire 8 action during its Pink Out The Pitch – Breast Cancer Awareness Game. The Golden Eagles improved to 11-2-2 overall and 7-1-1 in conference play.
Both teams battled defensively throughout the opening half, with limited scoring opportunities on either side. Hartwick held a 3-1 advantage in shots, while Brockport's defense kept the Hawks off the scoreboard. The teams entered halftime tied at 0-0.
The Golden Eagles came out strong in the second half, increasing their offensive pressure with 13 shots compared to Hartwick's eight. Brockport created several scoring opportunities before breaking through in the 74th minute.
Kaitlyn Spring scored the game's lone goal at 73:18, finding the back of the net off an assist from McKenna Slate. Spring's goal gave Brockport a 1-0 advantage, which the Golden Eagles maintained through the final minutes of regulation.
Brockport finished the contest with a 14-11 advantage in shots, including seven shots on goal, and held a 2-1 edge in corner kicks. Spring led the offensive attack with four shots, including three on target, while Parker Graham added three shots. Alana Yahoudy and Brianna Marino each contributed two shots.
Goalkeeper Emily McCane recorded five saves across 90 minutes, including four in the second half, to secure the shutout victory for the Golden Eagles.
