Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Dominates SUNY Poly 70-55 for Fifth Straight Win

BROCKPORT, NY – Riding a wave of momentum, the SUNY Brockport men's basketball team extended their winning streak to five games with a commanding 70-55 victory over third-seeded SUNY Poly on Friday night. The Golden Eagles (12-11, 8-6) utilized a relentless defensive effort and efficient scoring to take down the Wildcats at Jim and John Vlogianitis Gym.

How It Happened

Brockport maintained a steady offensive rhythm throughout the contest, matching their first-half output with exactly 35 points in the second period. The hallmark of the night, however, was the team's stifling ball pressure. The Green and Gold forced 19 SUNY Poly turnovers, converting those mistakes into 22 critical points. The defensive unit racked up 12 steals, led by Ajani Flemming and Jacob Oka, who each recorded a team-high four swipes.

The Golden Eagles' relentless perimeter defense held the Wildcats to just 25% (8-32) shooting from the field in the first half. While SUNY Poly managed to improve to 37.04% in the second frame, Brockport locked down the arc, limiting the visitors to a dismal 9.09% (1-11) from three-point range in the final 20 minutes and 21.7% (5-23) for the game.

Though the game saw early lead changes, Brockport seized control through efficient shooting and disciplined play at the charity stripe. After shooting 45.45% (5-11) from the free-throw line in the first half, the Golden Eagles found their touch in the second, connecting on 13-of-15 (86.67%) attempts to seal the win. Brockport's defensive discipline and a team 44.44% shooting performance from deep in the second half allowed them to pull away and maintain a double-digit cushion through the closing minutes.

Stars of the Night

Camron Dyer was an offensive force off the bench, leading all scorers with a game-high 20 points. Marking his second 20-point performance of the season, Dyer shot an efficient 7-of-13 from the floor, including 3-of-7 from behind the arc. He also contributed five rebounds, two blocks, and an assist in 25 minutes of action.

Pharell Aybar was relentless in his attack on the paint, consistently drawing contact with a quick first step. Aybar flirted with a double-double, finishing with 17 points and a game-high nine rebounds. His aggressive play also yielded two steals and a block, helping to anchor the Golden Eagles' interior defense.

Ajani Flemming proved to be the "X-factor" on both ends of the floor. In addition to his two momentum-shifting threes, Flemming was a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line to finish with 10 points. He tied Jacob Oka for a team-high four steals and rounded out his stat sheet with three rebounds and three assists, showcasing his versatility in the backcourt.

Up Next: The Golden Eagles look to keep the streak alive as they host Utica University for Senior Night tomorrow, Saturday, February 14th, at 4:00 p.m.
