CANTON, OH - The #23 Brockport Baseball team came up short in Saturday's matchup against RV Mount Union,11-3, on Saturday, February 21st. The Golden Eagles fell to 0-3 on the season following the loss in Canton, OH.
The Purple Raider pitching staff would contain the Golden Eagles throughout the contest, holding Brockport to just three hits across nine innings.Â
After a scoreless first inning,
Evan Brock would give Brockport a 1-0 lead in the second, stealing home after a Mount Union pickoff. The Golden Eagles' lead would be short-lived, with a Drew Denham homer setting the table for nine unanswered runs across the second and fourth innings.Â
In the top of the sixth inning,
James Dixon would plate two runs, scoring
William Coreno and Josh Index with a two-run single. Despite cutting the lead to 9-3, the Purple Raiders would score the final two runs of the contest to roll to an 11-3 win.
Josh Indek (2BB),
Evan Brock (2BB), and
William Coreno (H, BB) each reached base safely twice, all recording a run scored.Â
Evan Sullivan and
Logan Sajdak each tossed a scoreless inning in relief for Brockport, picking up a strikeout each. Â
