OSWEGO, N.Y. – The SUNY Brockport men's lacrosse team (0-5) faced a challenging road matchup on Wednesday afternoon, falling to Oswego State (3-1) by a score of 14-6. Despite an early lead and a multi-goal performance from
Hunter Riehlman, the Golden Eagles could not keep pace with a Lakers offense that pulled away in the second half.
How It Happened
The Golden Eagles struck first, as
Hunter Riehlman found the back of the net just four seconds into the contest off an assist from
Daniel Stiles. However, Oswego responded with three straight man-up goals to close the first period with a 3-1 advantage.
Brockport showed resilience in the second quarter.
Daniel Wright capitalized on a man-up opportunity early in the frame, followed shortly by another Riehlman goal to knot the score at 3-3. The Lakers regained the lead, but Wright struck again on the power play to keep the Golden Eagles within one at 5-4 before Oswego added a late goal to lead 6-4 at the break.
The second half proved difficult for the Green and Gold, as Oswego outscored Brockport 8-2 over the final 30 minutes. Riehlman completed his hat trick in the third quarter, and
Mason Michel added a late goal in the fourth, but the Lakers' high-volume shooting—totaling 51 shots on the day—secured the result for the home team.
