Auburndale, FL - The Brockport Baseball team (2-13) was defeated in Wednesday's matchup with #4-ranked Salve Regina (9-1) from Auburndale, FL on March 18th. Despite leading early in the contest, nine unanswered Seahawks runs would guide the fourth-ranked team in the country.
After a scoreless first inning from
Evan Sullivan, the Brockport offense would waste no time jumping in front. With runners on first and second base,
Kyle Blake would drive in his team-leading 14th RBI of the season, scoringÂ
Blake Fortunato. Salve Regina would be quick to respond, plating three runs in the second inning to jump in front 3-1.
The Seahawks would continue to build their lead, scoring in each inning from the second to the fifth to go ahead 9-1 after a four-run top of the fifth. The Golden Eagles would refuse to go away, with one swing of the bat putting two runs on the board.Â
Cole Grazioplene launched a towering shot to left field, scoring
Josh Indek with a two-run home run, cutting the Seahawks lead to 9-3.
Salve Regina would thwart Brockport's comeback bid, adding five runs and keeping the Golden Eagles off the scoreboard for the remainder of the contest.Â
Connon Quinn was a bright spot out of the Brockport bullpen, tossing two shutout innings with a strikeout.
Thomas Browne was strong as well, pitching a scoreless frame with a strikeout.
Cole Grazioplene highlighted the Golden Eagles' offense, finishing two-for-three with his two-run homer.
Connor Furst added a strikeout for the Green and Gold, posting 1.2 IP without allowing an earned run.
