Men’s Lacrosse Stumbles Against Ithaca at USA Lacrosse Headquarters

SPARKS, MD – The SUNY Brockport men's lacrosse team (0-7) faced a challenging road contest on Tuesday afternoon, falling 14-2 to Ithaca College (5-2) at the USA Lacrosse Headquarters. Despite a strong effort in the middle periods, the Golden Eagles were unable to contain a balanced Bombers offense that saw nine different players find the back of the net.

How It Happened

Ithaca set the tone early, jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the opening quarter. The Golden Eagles broke through early in the second frame when Hunter Riehlman scored off an assist from Daniel Stiles to cut the deficit to 5-1. However, the Bombers responded with a three-goal surge to close the half with an 8-1 advantage.

Brockport opened the third quarter with momentum as Daniel Wright netted an unassisted goal less than a minute into the period. The defensive unit, led by Jared Kulik, battled to keep the game within reach, but Ithaca's special teams capitalized on a man-up opportunity late in the third to extend their lead. The Bombers added three final tallies in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.

Inside the Box Score

Jared Kulik remained under constant pressure throughout the contest, finishing the day with 13 saves in a complete 60-minute performance. His efforts were supported by a defensive core that saw Matthew Cook and Daniel Stiles combine for four caused turnovers.

The Golden Eagles' clearing game was perfect in the final quarter, going 4-for-4 as they looked to spark a late comeback. Defensively, Brockport collected 24 ground balls, with Kulik leading the team with 7 pickups.

Up Next: The Golden Eagles will turn their attention toward conference play. Brockport will remain on the road to open Empire 8 action against Hartwick on Saturday, March 28th, at 3 p.m.
