Winter Haven, FL - The Brockport Baseball team (5-13, 3-0 E8) completed its Florida trip with a three-game sweep of Keuka College (3-8, 0-3 E8) on Saturday, March 21st. After difficult results against nationally ranked competition, the Golden Eagles bounced back with an 8-1 win to close the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational on a three-game winning streak.
Evan Brock and
Josh Indek got Brockport rolling offensively, each driving in runs in the first two frames. Brock would drive in Indek with a RBI single in the first inning before Indek's groundout would put Brockport up 2-0 early. Brock would provide an excellent outing for the Green and Gold, going two-for-four (BB) at the plate with two RBIs and a run scored.
A big fourth inning would cement Brockport's edge, plating four runs in the bottom of the frame.
Blake Fortunato would clear the bases with a two-RBI triple, andÂ
Evan Brock's RBI double would put Brockport up 5-0.
Michael Norton would cap off the damage in the inning, driving in Brock with an RBI single.
Despite the Wolves driving home a run in the fifth inning, the Green and Gold would score the final two runs of the afternoon.
Kyle Blake would add to his RBI total, driving in runs in the sixth and ninth innings.
Brendan Pajak would shut the door for Brockport, securing the final six outs (2K) and the win for Brockport.
Charles Searle (W, 2-0) provided his best outing to date, tossing five innings of one-run baseball with a career-high five strikeouts.
Bryce Tyndell was strong out of the bullpen for Brockport, going two scoreless innings with two strikeouts.
Bake Fortunato (2 RBI, 3B) and
Michael Norton each provided multi-hit performances for Brockport, each coming across to score.
Up Next: Brockport will head to the University of Rochester for non-conference action on Tuesday, March 24th, at 4 pm.
