Men’s Lacrosse Falls to Geneseo in Midweek Matchup

BROCKPORT, N.Y. — The SUNY Brockport men's lacrosse team (1-8, 1-1) was defeated at home on Wednesday afternoon by Geneseo, 14-4, in conference action. Despite a strong fourth-quarter response and a solid performance in goal, the Golden Eagles were unable to recover from an early surge by the Knights.

How It Happened
Geneseo established control early, building a 6-1 advantage in the opening quarter. Spencer Baugh accounted for Brockport's lone first-quarter goal, scoring unassisted at the 5:03 mark.

The second and third quarters were defined by defensive play, as Brockport was held scoreless while attempting to break through a disciplined Geneseo defense. Although the Golden Eagles' defense limited additional damage at times, the Knights continued to extend their lead.

Brockport regained momentum in the fourth quarter, netting three goals in the final 15 minutes. Daniel Wright opened the scoring for the Golden Eagles less than two minutes into the period. Pierson Jacobs followed with an unassisted goal at the 10:25 mark, and Brenden McClay added Brockport's final goal with 4:09 remaining in regulation.

Inside the Box Score
Jared Kulik delivered another strong effort in goal, facing 43 shots and recording 14 saves over 60 minutes of play. The performance marked his eighth consecutive game with double-digit saves.

Kulik and Wright led the team in ground balls, collecting four and two, respectively. Brockport was efficient in transition, successfully completing 17 of 19 clear attempts.

However, Geneseo controlled possession throughout the contest, winning 17 of 22 face-offs and holding a 35-20 advantage in ground balls, which contributed significantly to its sustained offensive pressure.

Up Next
The Golden Eagles return to action at home on Saturday, April 4, when they host SUNY Poly. Opening face-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
