Game Recap: Women's Flag Football |

Flag Football Earns First Home Victory, Soaring Past Hartwick 38-19

Brockport, NY – The Brockport women's flag football team (4-2, 3-1 E8) secured a decisive Empire 8 victory over Hartwick (3-3, 2-2 E8) on Friday, April 10 at Bob Boozer Field. The 38–19 win over the Hawks marked the program's first home victory and its first back-to-back wins of the season.

Megan Gerber delivered a dominant all-around performance, totaling 442 yards of offense, including 318 rushing yards, and accounting for six touchdowns while averaging 14.5 yards per carry. She was equally effective through the air, completing 13-of-22 passes with one touchdown. The Buffalo, NY native has now recorded 11 total touchdowns in conference play (4G), with her standout performance on the ground setting an early program benchmark.

Defensively, Ariana Kennedy led the way with 12 total flag pulls and three tackles for loss in an impressive outing. She has now recorded at least one tackle for loss in all four Empire 8 contests this season.

Lauren Cundra and Ava Seelbach each added seven solo tackles, while Analysia Sosa led all players with four tackles for loss. Sosa finished with six flag pulls in a breakout performance for the freshman.

Hartwick set the tone early, opening the scoring and breaking free for a 48-yard touchdown run to take a 12–7 lead in the first quarter. However, the Hawks were unable to contain Brockport's rushing attack, as two Gerber touchdowns gave the Golden Eagles a 19–12 advantage heading into the second quarter.

Brockport's defense controlled the remainder of the game, allowing just one touchdown after the opening quarter, which came late in the fourth. The Golden Eagles added to their lead before halftime when Addy VanDewater hauled in a five-yard touchdown pass from Gerber. Gerber converted the one-point attempt to extend the lead to 25–12 at the break.

In the second half, Brockport combined a stifling defensive effort with a powerful ground game to outscore Hartwick 19–7. Gerber added three rushing touchdowns after halftime, including a 49-yard scoring run that helped seal the victory.

Cymbri Jefferson contributed six flag pulls on defense, while Ava Leyh added four flag pulls and two tackles for loss.

Up Next: Brockport will return to action at home on Saturday, April 11, hosting Russell Sage at 12 p.m.
