Baseball Splits Saturday's DH at Sage, Indek Sets New Career Walk Record

ALBANY, N.Y. — The Brockport Golden Eagles baseball earned a split in Saturday's Empire 8 doubleheader against RV Russell Sage Gators baseball, taking game one 7-4 before dropping game two, 8-2. Brockport now stands at 17-15 overall and 13-2 in conference play, while Sage moves to 25-5 overall and 14-1 in the E8.

Game two also featured a milestone moment, as Josh Indek drew his 93rd career walk in the top of the seventh inning to set a new program record, surpassing Tom Weiner's previous mark of 92 (2002–06).

Game One: Brockport 7, RV Russell Sage 4

Brockport used a complete team effort to secure the opener, highlighted by a strong start from Tyler Pohlman (4-2), who struck out nine over 7.1 innings while allowing just three earned runs.

Josh Indek set the tone atop the lineup, going 3-for-5 with three runs scored. Matthew Coon continued his torrid stretch at the plate, finishing 2-for-5 with a stolen base to extend his hitting streak to 21 games and his on-base streak to 27. Blake Fortunato added a 2-for-4 performance with an RBI.

The Golden Eagles capitalized early, scoring three runs off Russell Sage errors before an Evan Brock sacrifice fly extended the lead to 4-0 in the third inning. The Gators responded with a two-run rally and later tied the game on a two-run home run by Evan Grimes in the fifth.

Brockport answered decisively, plating the game's final three runs, including two in the ninth inning, to pull away. Bryce Tyndell recorded his second save of the season, securing the final five outs without allowing a hit.

Game Two: RV Russell Sage 8, Brockport 2

In the nightcap, Brockport struck first after two scoreless innings from Ben Yerina. Matthew Coon delivered an RBI single to score Cole Grazioplene, and later added another run-scoring hit in the fourth to tie the game at 2-2.

From there, Russell Sage took control, scoring in multiple innings and capitalizing against all four Brockport pitchers to secure the win and the series.

Michael Norton paced the offense alongside Coon in game two, finishing 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored.
