Rochester, NY – The SUNY Brockport softball team fell to Nazareth in both games of the Empire 8 doubleheader on Saturday. After a busy weekend of conference play, Brockport is now 13-13 overall and 9-5 in the E8.
Brockport 0, Nazareth 8 – Game 1 Final
The Golden Flyers scored early and often to take a 6-0 lead in the third inning. They would add two more in the bottom of the fifth to end the game.
The Brockport lineup was held to just three hits in the contest and drew one walk.
Julia Hill was 2-for-2 at the dish in this one and stole a bag.
Aubrey Ennis went 1-for-2 and
Saylor Ayers drew the walk.
Colleen Davis (L, 4-4) got the start in the circle. She allowed seven earned in 4.0 innings, with one strikeout in the loss.
Brockport 0, Nazareth 5 – Game 2 Final
Liana DeValder (L, 7-4) started game two for Brockport looking to avoid the sweep. The freshman standout gave up five earned runs on seven hits with one strikeout.
Unfortunately for the Golden Eagles, game two was a similar story offensively. They managed just two hits, coming from
Natalie Faas (1-3) and
Erin Dougherty (1-2).
Saylor Ayers drew a walk once again, as did
Paige Wentland.
Up next for the team is another road trip, this time for an E8 clash with Geneseo. Games are scheduled for a 3/5pm set on Tuesday, April 21
st.
