ROCHESTER, NY – The Brockport men's and women's outdoor track and field teams delivered a commanding performance at the University of Rochester Alumni Invitational this weekend. Both squads earned second-place overall finishes, with the men totaling 191.5 points and the women tallying 163.5 points.
Men's Team:
The men's side was highlighted by several first-place finishes and AARTFC qualifying performances.
Distance & Steeplechase:
The day began on the long track with
Brady Ruediger taking fifth in the 10,000m (33:47.24), followed closely by
Caleb Belanger in sixth. In the 3000m steeplechase,
Aidan Mayer claimed the top spot on the podium with a first-place finish (9:54.28), while
Joseph Massett secured third (10:20.77).
Benjamin Betrus led the way in the 1500m, finishing fourth with a time of 4:06.72.
Sprints & Hurdles:
Jeremy Chen put on a show in the 400m hurdles, taking first place with an AARTFC qualifying time of 55.56. In the 200m dash,
Derek Grimshaw sprinted to a first-place finish in 22.18 seconds. The 100m dash saw a "green sea" of Brockport jerseys, with
Alex Peske,
Cole Ferris,
Logan Thompson, and
Jesse Sweet sweeping the sixth through ninth spots.
The men's 4x400m relay team—composed of
Michael Durski,
Malakye Moss,
Dalton Pelow, and
Ayden Grinion—dominated the field to finish first with an AARTFC qualifying time of 3:19.29.
Field Events
Throws:
Allen Reome took home first place in the javelin with a mark of 48.65m. In the shot put,
Nick Wright placed third (13.79m), while
Hunter Richards earned top-eight finishes in both the discus and hammer throw.
Jumps: Jack Valentien cleared 1.83m to take second in the high jump, followed by
Dillon Murphy in third. In the triple jump,
Dennis Bobbitt secured second place with a leap of 14.38m, and Judson Delany followed in third (13.19m).
Pole Vault:
Tristen Schwertfeger cleared 3.73m to earn a second-place finish.
Women's Team:
The women's team displayed incredible depth across the board, fueled by regional qualifiers and multiple event winners.
Distance & Mid-Distance:
Keziah Angeleri started the momentum early with a third-place finish in the 10,000m (45:22.23).
Ethne Degan continued her stellar season, winning the 800m with an AARTFC qualifying time of 2:17.95, while teammate
Peyton Long took third. In the 1500m,
Aaliyah Wright placed fourth (4:58.38).
Sprints & Hurdles:
Elaina Neubert captured first place in the 400m hurdles, crossing the line in 1:09.34.
Courtney Bostic provided points in the short sprints, taking third in the 200m (26.87) and fifth in the 100m dash.
Field Events
Jumps:
Sasha Schramm stood atop the podium in the high jump, clearing 1.49m for first place, with Abby Zeh taking third. Zeh also excelled in the triple jump, earning second place (10.71m).
Throws: The Golden Eagles dominated the hammer throw standings, with
Rhian Crowley (2nd),
Savana Henry (3rd), and Bella Rivera (4th) going back-to-back-to-back.
Trinity Dees added a second-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 11.65m.
Pole Vault:
Isabel Swyers earned a third-place finish, clearing a height of 3.36m.
Up Next:
Brockport will look to carry this momentum into next weekend as they travel to compete in the Cardinal Classic at St. John Fisher. The meet is scheduled for Saturday, April 25th.
