Brockport, NY – The men's and women's outdoor track team kicked off Day 1 of the AARTFC Outdoor Championships with dominant results.
Men's Team:
Making it to the finals from a third-place spot in the 4x100 preliminary round was
Alex Peske,
Derek Grimshaw,
Michael Durski, and
Gabriel Giannini, working together for a time of 41.20 seconds. Grimshaw also made it to day 2 in the 100m sprint, qualifying for the final round from a sixth-place finish at 10.67 seconds.
In the 3000m steeplechase,
Aidan Mayer took 14
th place, with a mark of 9:57.00.
Connor Couperus crossed the line shortly after in 16
th at 10:01.50.
Chris Cammisa finished the 10000m with a time of 35:24.32, good for 26
th place on the board.
Hunter Richards kicked off field events strong with a 19
th place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 48.58m
In the long jump,
Gabriel Giannini cleared 6.61m of the pit to take 20
th place.
Women's Team:
Madison Kirkpatrick finished strong in the 3000m steeplechase, taking 13
th place with a time of 12:08.56. Salma Moumen competed in the 5000m, where she finished up in 37
th place with a mark of 19:27.27.
In the 10000m, Hailey Morrison finished first for the Golden Eagles, taking 15
th overall with a time of 40:04.73. Jennifer Reagan took 23
rd, running for 41:31.98, and Abigail Polus finished one place later at 41:44.52.
The 4x400 team of Monica Cammarota, Elaina Neubert, Ariana Proper, and Courtney Bostic worked for a 4:03.77 mark to take 18
th place.
Sasha Schramm had a day in the long jump, finishing in 16
th place from a 5.31m jump into the sand.
Isabel Swyers had a dominant day in the pole vault, where she finished with an eighth place spot, clearing the pole at 3.48m.
Tomorrow, the Green and Gold will compete in the second day of the AARTFC Regionals, which is set to start at 10am at Ursinus College.
