Brockport, NY – The Brockport men's and women's outdoor track and field teams delivered a strong showing this weekend at the Empire 8 Championships, wrapping up competition with a series of standout performances. The men's team placed second overall with 214 points, while the women's team finished fifth with 88.5 points.
Men's Team
Decathlon:
Tyler Judd competed in the decathlon, earning an eighth-place finish with 4,807 points. Judd recorded third-place finishes in the 100m (11.65), shot put (10.38m), high jump (1.78m), and 400m (53.72). He added a fourth-place mark in the long jump (6.49m), fifth in the discus (29.68m), and eighth-place finishes in both the 110m hurdles (18.07) and pole vault (3.00m).
Track Events:
Derek Grimshaw highlighted the meet with an outstanding performance, earning Empire 8 Track Athlete of the Meet honors.
The 4x100m relay team of Logan Thompson, Derek Grimshaw, Michael Durski, and Gabriel Giannini claimed the conference title with an AARTFC-qualifying time of 41.57. In the 4x400m relay, Michael Durski, Ayden Grinion, Malakye Moss, and Owen Arbocus secured a runner-up finish in 3:17.51, also meeting regional qualifying standards.
Jeremy Chen placed third in the 110m hurdles with an AARTFC-qualifying time of 15.27.
Grimshaw captured gold in the 100m with a time of 10.75, while Gabriel Giannini added a fourth-place finish at 11.08. Grimshaw went on to win the 200m in 21.81, and Michael Durski earned bronze in 22.02.
In the 800m, Owen Arbocus claimed silver with an AARTFC-qualifying time of 1:52.20.
Brockport dominated the 400m hurdles, placing second through fourth. Ayden Grinion led the group in second (52.89), followed by Timothy Smith in third (53.42) and Jaremy Chen in fourth (55.08), all achieving AARTFC standards. Brandt Marshall added a sixth-place finish in 57.64.
Field Events:
Nick Wright earned bronze in the shot put with a throw of 14.59m, while Mitchell Ellsworth finished fourth at 14.52m. In the discus, Duncan Harbin placed second with a mark of 41.64m, and Nick Wright and Hunter Richards finished fifth (39.92m) and sixth (39.69m), respectively.
Dennis Bobbitt secured a silver medal in the triple jump with an AARTFC-qualifying distance of 14.33m. Judson Delany placed fifth (13.61m), also meeting regional standards, and Cameron Rynders finished eighth at 12.72m.
In the high jump, Cardin Chau took third, clearing 1.90m. Jack Galley and Jake Galley tied for sixth at 1.79m, while Dillon Murphy placed eighth with the same height.
Women's Team
Heptathlon:
Tessa Patchen placed seventh in the heptathlon with 3,575 points. She finished third in the high jump (1.52m), fourth in both the 200m (27.37) and javelin (22.95m), sixth in the long jump (5.16m), and seventh in the 100m hurdles (17.38).
Track Events:
The 4x100m relay team of Courtney Bostic, Alexis Rodriguez, Monica Cammarota, and Meghan Muscarella finished fourth in 50.13. In the 4x400m relay, Bostic, Cammarota, Ariana Proper, and Rodriguez earned bronze with an AARTFC-qualifying time of 4:04.41.
Ethne Degan claimed silver in the 1500m with an AARTFC-qualifying time of 4:40.07, while Emily Leo placed eighth in 4:50.81.
Muscarella finished eighth in the 100m final with a time of 12.81. In the 400m hurdles, Alexis Rodriguez earned a silver medal with an AARTFC-qualifying mark of 1:03.84.
Field Events:
MeKenna Uhl led Brockport in the discus with a third-place finish (37.75m), while Savana Henry placed seventh (32.72m).
Trinity Dees earned silver in the shot put with an AARTFC-qualifying throw of 12.74m. Bella Rivera (11.47m), Rhian Crowley (11.35m), and Madison Kirkpatrick (11.05m) placed fifth, sixth, and eighth, respectively.
Sasha Schramm placed seventh in the high jump (1.49m). In the triple jump, Abby Zeh finished sixth with a mark of 11.06m, while Schramm also recorded 11.06m to place seventh.
Brockport returns to action at the Farley Inter Regional Meet on May 8–9, serving as a final opportunity to qualify for the AARTFC Championships.
