Brockport, NY- The Brockport women's soccer team is set to open its season on September 1^st in Oswego at 4 pm. The Golden Eagles will then head to Erie, PA to compete against John Carroll University and Penn State Behrend on September 5^th (Sat) and 6^th (Sun) at 6 pm. 

2025 Season Recap: The Golden Eagles finished 14-2-4 overall, with 10-0-1 in conference play. The team went undefeated in conference play during the regular season and earned the No. 1 seed in the Empire 8 Tournament. 

They opened the postseason play with a 3-1 victory over Alfred University before shutting out Hartwick College 1-0 in the semifinals to advance to the Empire 8 Championship. Brockport hosted St. John Fisher University in the championship game, where the Golden Eagles battled through a scoreless game before falling short 1-0 in overtime. 

The Green and Gold finished conference play with a second-time program-record undefeated season. Brockport's success translated into a collection of individual honors, as it earned eight All-Conference selections and four highlighted Empire 8 awards. Junior Amelia Breton was named the first-ever Empire 8 Midfielder of the Year after leading Brockport with nine goals, 21 points and 55 shots. Senior Lyndsey Miller earned Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, becoming just the third player in Empire 8 history to win the award twice. Goalkeeper Emily McCane was named Empire 8 Goalkeeper of the Year after an undefeated 9-0-3 individual record, a 0.25 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage. Head Coach Mike Idland, along with assistants Kody Haywood, Kate Wagner and Jaylah Cossin, earned Empire 8 Coaching Staff of the Year honors for the second consecutive season. 

Joining Breton, Miller and McCane on the First Team All-Conference squad was senior Caitlin Nelson, who finished third on the team with four goals while leading the Golden Eagles with five assists for 13 points. McKenna Slate and Lena Turaj also earned All-Conference recognition, with Slate recording three goals and three assists for nine points and Turaj appearing in every match while starting 19 of 20 contests. 

The Golden Eagles' defense continued to establish itself as one of the strongest in the conference, allowing just seven goals across 20 games and recording 15 shutouts. Brockport also outscored its opponents 36-7 throughout the season, including allowing just one goal during Empire 8 regular season play.

The Golden Eagles' success continued beyond the conference level, as four Brockport student-athletes earned United Soccer Coaches Division III All-Region III honors following the 2025 season. Emily McCane and Lyndsey Miller were named to the First Team, while Amelia Breton and Megan Gerber earned additional All-Region recognition. 
 
Returners: The Green and Gold have a strong group of returners heading into the 2026 season, including several standout performers from last year's Empire 8 Championship squad. Goalkeeper Emily McCane returns between the goal after a breakout 2025 campaign that saw her earn Empire 8 Goalkeeper of the Year. Lena Turaj, Ella Camalleri, Kaitlyn Spring, and Alana Yahoudy return to help the defensive unit that allowed just seven goals and recorded 15 shutouts last season. Amelia Breton is back for her senior season after earning Empire 8 Midfielder of the Year honors, leading the Golden Eagles with nine goals and 21 points in 2025. McKenna Slate, Lavanya Upadhyay, and Sofia Storrow also return to strengthen the midfield and attack, while Tamara Honcharuk, Megan Gates, Marisa Closson, and Elyssa Barnhart provide additional depth heading into the new campaign.

Fresh Faces- The team welcomes five new faces to the program, including freshmen Parker Graham (Forward/Midfield), Sophia Brooks (Forward/Midfield), Kadyn Piliero (Forward/Midfield), Brooke Silliman (Goalkeeper), and senior Mackenzie Bieger (Defense).

A New Era: Following the departure of longtime head coach Mike Idland, Jessica Christenson was hired in July to usher in the next chapter for the Golden Eagles. Christenson joins Brockport after serving as an assistant coach at the University of Rochester, bringing Division III postseason experience and strong recruiting ties across Western New York. Previously, she spent nine years as head coach at Keuka College, earning 42 wins and leading the Wolves to back-to-back 13-win seasons in 2018 and 2019. Her 2018 team captured the NEAC regular-season title, earning her Coach of the Year honors. Christenson also coached 13 All-Conference players, including the 2018 NEAC Rookie and Defensive Players of the Year. She will be leading a Brockport program that posted a 41-7-11 record over the last three seasons.

Scouting Oswego– The Lakers finished the 2025 season 6-6-5 overall with a 3-2-4 mark in SUNYAC contests, falling to Fredonia in the first round of the SUNYAC Tournament. Tuesday's tilt will mark the first head-to-head matchup since 2023, with the Golden Eagles winning four of the last six matches dating back to 2017.

Scouting John Carroll – The Blue Streaks posted a 13-6-1 record in 2025, winning the NCAC Conference and securing a bid to the NCAA Championship Tournament. Saturday's meeting will serve as the first head-to-head meeting between Brockport and John Carroll. 

Scouting Penn State Behrend: The Lions finished a successful 2025 season with a 15-4-2 record and an AMCC Championship, punching their ticket to the NCAA Tournament. Penn State Behrend downed the Golden Eagles, 3-0, on Brockport's home turf last season.
