Brockport Invitational Recap
The Golden Eagles enter Homecoming Weekend with a 4-3 overall record following a 2-1 performance at the Brockport Invitational.
Brockport opened the tournament on Friday night by sweeping Hilbert College, 3-0 (25-11, 25-20, 25-13).
Madisen Jones powered the offense with nine kills (.421 pct), while
Ellie Cusmano added seven kills and seven digs.
Kaitlyn Jewett served up six aces to complement 14 assists, splitting set duties with
Ava Baty (14 assists). Defensively, libero
Elsie Logan led the squad with 15 digs.
On Saturday, the Green and Gold split a pair of four-set decisions. After a 1-3 setback against Grove City College—highlighted by 13 kills from
Kaylee Dickerson-Holly and 12 kills (.333 pct) from Cusmano—Brockport bounced back with a 3-1 victory over St. Lawrence University (26-28, 25-8, 27-25, 28-26). Four Golden Eagles reached double-digit kills in the nightcap: Dickerson-Holly (15 kills),
Luba Butcher (14 kills),
Ana Parella (10 kills, 6 blocks), and
Anna Kurtzhalts (8 kills, .421 pct off the bench). Logan anchored the backline with 22 digs against Grove City and 13 against St. Lawrence.
Scouting RIT
The Tigers head into Friday's match at 3-6 overall after dropping their last five contests, most recently falling 1-3 to Plattsburgh at the UMass Boston Invite. The Golden Eagles have dominated the head-to-head matchup in recent years, riding an 11-match winning streak against the Tigers, and will look to extend that streak in front of the home crowd on Friday evening.
