Brockport, NY- The women's soccer team opened the 2026 season with a strong 3-0 shutout over Oswego State on Tuesday afternoon at Laker Turf Stadium. With the win, the Golden Eagles start 1-0-0, while Oswego falls to 0-1-0.
Brockport quickly generated offensive pressure, recording its first shot just over a minute into the match. After several early chances, Brockport broke through in the 18th minute when
Amelia Breton scored off an assist from
Brianna Marino, giving the Golden Eagles a 1-0 advantage.
Oswego responded with pressure of its own, but goalkeeper
Emily McCane made four saves to preserve the Golden Eagles' lead into halftime.
Brockport came out strong in the second half and extended its lead in the 52nd minute. Marino scored her first goal of the season to put the Golden Eagles ahead 2-0. Marino continued to make an impact throughout the contest, contributing two assists in addition to her goal.
The Golden Eagles continued to apply pressure as the second half progressed. In the 83rd minute,
Alana Yahoudy added Brockport's third goal of the afternoon, with Marino recording her second assist of the game to cap off the scoring.
Brockport finished the afternoon with 13 shots, including six on goal, while Oswego recorded 14 shots and seven on goal. McCane was strong in net for the Golden Eagles, playing all 90 minutes and making seven saves to secure the shutout. Oswego goalkeeper Lamia Kosick made three saves.
Breton led Brockport with four shots and two on goal, while Yahoudy added two shots and one on goal.
Sophia Brooks and
Jordan Chizuk each recorded two shots, with Brooks placing one on target and Chizuk adding one on goal.
The Golden Eagles also earned four corner kicks during the contest, compared to six for Oswego.
