BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Brockport women's soccer team (2-1) will hit the road Wednesday, September 9, traveling to Buffalo State for a 4 p.m. matchup before returning home to welcome Dickinson College for the Golden Eagles' home opener on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
Last Week: The Golden Eagles split a pair of non-conference games in Erie, PA, last weekend, defeating John Carroll on Saturday, 3-0, before falling to Penn State Behrend on Sunday, 5-1. Amelia Breton was unstoppable in Brockport's win over John Carroll, fueling the offense with three goals and a team-high eight shots (5 SOG). Emily McCane secured her second shutout of the season, making three saves and playing all 90 minutes between the pipes for the Green and Gold. McKenna Slate and Brianna Marino each added an assist in the win over John Carroll, with Marino, Lena Turaj, and Alana Yahoudy all playing 90 minutes in excellent efforts.Jordan Chizuk would net Brockport's lone goal against Penn State Behrend, with Sophia Brooks adding an assist for her first point as a Golden Eagle.
Familiar Foe: Facing off in every season since 2007, Brockport and Buffalo State will meet for the first time since the departure of longtime head coach Mike Idland. Leading the Golden Eagles to a 90-56-21 record during his tenure, Brockport will face off against the program's former leader on Wednesday and will look to maintain its dominance in the head-to-head series. Brockport has won seven of the last eight head-to-head matchups (7-0-1), not having lost to Buffalo State since the 2016 season.
Strong Starts: Posting a goal in each of her previous two seasons, senior Brianna Marino has jumped out to a career-best scoring pace. Already setting single-season bests in assists (3) and points (5), Marino has positioned herself for a breakout final season.She provided her finest outing in Brockport's season-opening win at Oswego, contributing to all three tallies with a goal and two assists in the 3-0 win. Leading Brockport with nine goals last season, Amelia Breton begins the season on pace for a new single-season best for goals. Her four goals in three games lead the Green and Gold, fueled by her hat trick effort against John Carroll.
Scouting Buffalo State: The Bengals hold a 1-2 record, opening the season with a 4-1 win against Hilbert before falling to Baldwin Wallace (3-1) and DFU-Florham (3-0). Buffalo State will be looking to build off an 8-7-5 season in 2025 that finished with a SUNYAC Tournament appearance.
Scouting Dickinson: The Devils have rolled to a 3-0 start, outscoring opponents 11-1 and defeating Pitt-Greensburg last Saturday, 4-0. Saturday's matchup will mark the first since the 2011 season, which saw Dickinson College earn a 5-0 win at home.
