Bob Ellis

Bob Ellis rejoined the Golden Eagles in 2009 after a three-season hiatus. He coached linebackers and the special teams units for 13 years at Brockport. He served as head coach at Brockport High School from 1982-91.

In 2015, the defensive line played a pivotal role in the success of the unit, recording 32 sacks for 226 yards. Part of that success was due to contributions from senior Tarik Bennett, who represented Brockport on the All-America list after ranking 13th and 33rd in tackles for a loss, and sacks, respectively, on a national level.

He was selected as the linebackers coach for the 1985 Eddie Meath All-Star Game. Ellis also coached at high schools in Sidney (1977-81), South Berlin (1976) and New Berlin (1975). In addition, he coached the semi-pro Chenango Storm (1977) and Oneonta Indians (1975-76).

He began his career as a graduate assistant at Ithaca College in 1974. While he was a head coach at Brockport High School, he was named the Monroe County West Coach of the Year in 1985.

Ellis earned his Bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College in 1974, while playing tight end and outside linebacker for the Bombers from 1970 to 1973. He also earned a Master’s degree from Ithaca College in 1975.
