Alumnus Bryonne Herring ‘15 was hired as SUNY Brockport's first full-time head strength and conditioning coach in the Summer of 2023.  Herring will be primarily responsible for the organization and supervision of the strength and conditioning activities for Brockport’s 23 sport NCAA Division III athletic program.
While at Brockport, Herring will be responsible for developing training programs based on individual athletes and team/program needs. He will create and implement policies and procedures for the strength and conditioning program in accordance with the NSCA Strength and Conditioning Professional Standards. He will schedule team training times and individual training sessions while also collaborating with coaches and athletic training staff on overall conditioning, rehabilitation, and welfare of student athletes. He will also be responsible for supervising assistant strength and conditioning coaches, interns, and practicum students as well as working with facilities staff to ensure proper cleaning and maintenance of the Bill Steele Athlete weight room.
 
Herring comes back to Brockport with eight years of experience as a strength and conditioning coach in the collegiate ranks.  Most recently, he spent six months as the head strength and conditioning coach at Stevenson University in Owens Mills, MD.  During his time at Stevenson, he designed and implemented strength and conditioning programs for football, men’s lacrosse, soccer, acrobatics and tumbling as well as the swimming and diving teams.  He oversaw the design speed and agility programs for all sports as well as managing the weight room and scheduling. 
Prior to Stevenson, he spent over three years as the head sports performance coach and the director of the intermetor wellness center at King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, PA. While at King’s he designed and implemented strength and conditioning programs for the college’s 27 NCAA Division III teams.  He also developed nutrition plans and recommendations for student-athletes and he performed regular fitness evaluations.
 
After graduating from SUNY Brockport with a degree in Kinesiology in 2015, Herring spent time as the head strength and condition coach at nearby RIT before accepting the same role at the University of Mount Olive in 2017.
 
Originally from Gates, NY, Herring attended Gates-Chili High School.  He earned his master’s in strength and conditioning from Lagrange College in 2018.
He currently resides in Brockport with his wife Vilma and four children Bryanna, Deanna, Emyiah and Bryonne Jr.
