Part of a Winning Culture
Prior to joining the coaching staff as the wide receivers coach in the spring of 2019, Matt played here at Brockport from 2014-2018. He was a member of the 2017 Final Four team that finished the year ranked fifth in the nation and he was part of the 2018 Sweet 16 squad that was 11th in the country. During his time here at Brockport as a player and coach he has been apart of the Golden Eagles Empire 8 Championship three-peat, as well as seven consecutive postseason appearances.

Transition to Coaching
In his first year on the staff he was part of the 2019 Empire 8 Coaching Staff of the Year. While working with the receivers that season he coached three all-conference receivers, as well as two school record holders. The team had a record of 9-3 to start his coaching career, winning the Empire 8 Conference Championship and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Division III Football Championships. Now in 2024, Arita has taken on further coaching responsibilities as the Special Teams Coordinator, Passing Game Coordinator, and has resumed coaching the wide receivers after coaching the secondary for a couple seasons. While calling the special teams signals, Brockport had seven blocked kicks in 2023 and scored multiple special teams touchdowns as well under Arita's guidance.

Playing Career
Matt came into the program as freshman in 2014 and played through the 2018 season in the defensive secondary. He won back-to-back Empire 8 Conference Championships as a player and was part of a recruiting class that helped build the foundation for Brockport's high level of success in recent years. In 2018 he earned AP All-American and D3football.com All-East Region Team recognition.
