Kate Wagner

Kate Wagner was hired as an assistant coach for the Brockport women’s soccer team in the Summer of 2025. She will assist Head Coach Mike Idland with all facets of Brockport’s nationally-recognized women’s soccer program. Wagner joins the soccer coaching staff with a competitive playing background, a deep tactical understanding of the game, and a team-first mentality. She is passionate about fostering a love for the sport while helping student-athletes grow both on and off the field.

A native of Cicero, N.Y., Wagner starred at Cicero-North Syracuse High School, earning All-CNY Section III honors. She continued her career at Roberts Wesleyan University, where she was a starting defensive center midfielder and helped lead the Redhawks to the 2019 NCCAA National Runner-Up finish.

Her decorated club career includes playing for the Syracuse Development Academy, where she was part of two Region I Tournament Championships, two Region I League Championships, five New York State Cup titles, and a trip to the 2016 US Youth Soccer National Championships Final Four. More recently, Wagner has competed with the Rochester Lazers, capturing three USASA Region I Championships and finishing as 2023 USASA National Runners-Up. She also spent time with RNYFC in the WPSL (2024) and Flower City 1872 in the UWS (2023).

Off the pitch, Wagner earned her Ph.D. in Astrophysics from the Rochester Institute of Technology, applying the same focus, discipline, and analytical mindset that she brings to the game. She resides in Gates, N.Y., with her husband and is excited to contribute her knowledge, experience, and passion to the Golden Eagles program.
