Kody Haywood was hired in the Summer of 2025 as an assistant coach for the Brockport women’s soccer program. Haywood will assist Head Coach Mike Idland with all facets of the program.
In Spring 2022, Haywood began coaching with Soccer Shots Rochester, working with children ages 2–8. That fall, he volunteered as an assistant coach for the Churchville-Chili Women’s Varsity Soccer Team, focusing primarily on goalkeeper training and development. In August 2023, he joined the Rochester Rush Soccer Club as a head coach, guiding youth players across various age groups. He remained in that role through July 2025, committed to developing not only athletes but also confident and thoughtful young individuals.
In Spring 2024, Haywood transitioned into the role of Director of Coaching at Soccer Shots Rochester, where he currently manages a team of over 20 coaches.
His coaching philosophy emphasizes accessibility, creativity, and growth. Passionate about soccer as a global game with simple rules and deep complexities, he believes the sport allows players to express themselves, test their limits, and grow as individuals and teammates. He is particularly dedicated to using the field as a space where athletes can build life skills such as communication, perseverance, discipline, and resilience.
Raised in Syracuse, Haywood’s soccer career began at the early age of six years old. He played high school soccer at Central Square where he was a First Team All-League goalkeeper for the Redhawks. His playing career continued at SUNY Brockport where he was a member of the Golden Eagles club team while earning his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology.
Haywood is a proud husband and currently resides in Greece, NY. After graduating from SUNY Brockport and relocating to the Rochester area in 2023, he quickly embraced the region as home. Grateful for the chance to coach and mentor players at all levels, Haywood is deeply committed to helping each athlete reach their full potential—on and off the field.
