Freshman Rachel Malone (Fairport, NY/Fairport) of the women’s track and field team has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week after a dominating victory at the Rochester Spring Invitational.

Malone captured a first-place finish in the women’s 5000-meter run with an Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) qualifying time of 17:50.04 seconds, the lone runner in the event to finish under 18 minutes. Malone finished 28.47 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. It is Malone’s second first-place finish in as many weeks as the freshman finished first in the 1500-meter run at Hamilton College last weekend.
