Nicole Jones (West Charlton, NY/Galway) of the women’s track and field team has been named The College at Brockport Female Athlete of the Week after posting a second-place finish in the women’s shot put event.

Competing at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Outdoor Championships, Jones hit a distance of 13.13 meters (43’ 1”) on her first attempt to finish second out of 18 throwers. Jones set the school record last week at the Gator Invitational with a distance of 3.38 meters (43’ 10.75”) to qualify for this weeks' NCAA Championships.

Jones will head to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College in Claremont, CA at the Fritz B. Burns Stadium for her first appearance at the championships. The women’s shot put event is set to begin on Saturday at 1:00 pm, PST (4:00 pm, EST). Jones is currently ranked 15th nationally in the event.
