John Wilkinson (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) won the 285-pound weight class at the New Standard Invitational Saturday at York College in York, PA and has been named The College at Brockport Male Athlete of the Week.

Wilkinson entered the tournament as the No. 4 seed in the heavyweight class. The junior defeated Joey Tilson from Johns Hopkins. Wilkinson then scored a pin in 2:17 over No. 5 seed George Madosky from Johnson.

In the semifinals, Wilkinson took a 12-4 decision over the top overall seed Ian Jones from the Apprentice School to advance to the championship bout. Taking on Jeremy Reith from Elizabethtown, Wilkinson scored another decision, defeating the No. 3 seed 5-3.

Wilkinson and the Golden Eagles will take on Lycoming for the home opener at 7:00 pm on Dec. 7
