Junior John Ivy (Rochester, NY/East) became the 22nd member of the 1,000 point club after scoring a career-high 32 points in a 93-70 win over New Paltz on Saturday. For his efforts, Ivy has been named The College at Brockport Male Athlete of the Week.
Ivy scored 19 second half points, 17 coming in the final 11:26 of the game as the junior reached the career milestone. Ivy’s 32 points came on a career-high 13 made field goals and also hit three shots from beyond the arc. Ivy entered the game needing 31 points to eclipse the mark and scored his final points with 1:29 remaining in the game after grabbing his own rebound and putting home a layup.
Against Buffalo State on Tuesday night, Ivy scored 20 points on 8-14 shooting to lead the Golden Eagles to a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) victory over the Bengals. Ivy scored 22 points against Oneonta on Friday night while also grabbing a career-high five steals.
Ivy has scored in double figures in his last 19 games dating back to last season and has scored at least 20 points in his last five games as Brockport is currently riding a three-game winning streak. The junior is averaging 19.6 points per game, fourth best in the SUNYAC.
Ivy and the Golden Eagles will travel to Cortland on Jan. 29 for an 8:00 pm SUNYAC matchup against the Red Dragons.
