Freshman Nate Wilkinson (Elba, NY/Iroquois) has been named The College at Brockport Male Athlete of the Week after scoring both of the Golden Eagles touchdowns in a 17-14 road victory over Cortland. Wilkinson is the award winner for the week ending September 15 after helping Brockport spoil the Red Dragons home opening game of the season.

Wilkinson had impressive statistics, totaling 10 catches for 131 yards and two touchdowns. He gave Brockport the early lead in the first quarter on a three-yard touchdown reception, which capitalized on a Cortland turnover. The Red Dragons evened things out for a 7-7 tie going into halftime.

After another touchdown by Cortland, Wilkinson yet again made a couple big plays leading Brockport to the end zone with 32 of the 53 yards on the drive in the third quarter. He knotted the score at 14-14 when he was on the receiving end of a 21-yard strike from his quarterback. The Golden Eagles won the game on a 19-yard field goal with two minutes remaining.

Brockport football comes home this Saturday for a 6 pm homecoming game with a 2-0 record this week to face the 1-0 Cardinals of St. John Fisher. This inaugural Empire 8 contest for Brockport is also the first time the Golden Eagles will participate in the Courage Bowl. Courage Bowl X is a game dedicated to the children of Camp Good Days and Special Times. All proceeds will be dedicated to Camp Good Days.
