Sophomore Mark Sylvia (Northville, NY/Broadalbin-Perth) has been named The College at Brockport Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 22. Sylvia played a key role in helping the Men’s Soccer team remain undefeated and improving its record to 4-0-3 on the year.

After a half of no scoring for either side, Medaille took the lead on a converted penalty kick early in the second half. Brockport was quick to answer back on Sylvia’s goal. Sylvia headed the ball past the Mavericks goalkeeper less than two minutes after Medaille’s goal. Twenty minutes later Brockport took the 2-1 lead that it would never relinquish.

Sylvia has been a major factor in Brockport’s unbeaten streak which dates back to last year. As a defender, he has helped Brockport to shutout four of the seven opponents it has faced this year. The team is unbeaten in its last 11 regular season games (6-0-5) and has only two losses to its name in the last 30 regular season contests (19-2-9).
