Junior midfielder Collin Goettel (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) has been named The College at Brockport Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 20. Goettel led a Brockport offensive explosion against State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) opponents this weekend.

Goettel had two goals and an assist as Brockport exploded for seven goals in two SUNYAC contests this week. Both Goettel goals came as a result from direct kicks awarded to Brockport on opponent fouls.

In the 14th minute of Brockport’s 4-1 win against Oswego, Goettel got the offensive onslaught started when he was awarded a direct kick from 20-yards out. He used the slim alley that was given to him and sent the ball just wide of the Lakers' three man wall and inside the upper right post past the diving goalkeeper for the Brockport lead.

Late in the game against Cortland, Goettel gave Brockport the lead when he drilled a direct kick from 25-yards out that was deflected by a Red Dragon for the Brockport 3-2 lead. Goettel also helped Brockport tie the game up in the second half on his crossing pass that found a Golden Eagle head and was sent into the back of the net.

Goettel ranks in the top 10 of most offensive categories in the SUNYAC, including fifth overall in points. On the season he has scored seven goals and six assists. His six assists are tied for first in the SUNYAC.
