Late Run Gives Men’s Basketball Road Win

Anthony Hall hits two big 3-pointers in the closing minutes for the Golden Eagles

Gerald Williams scored 13 points in the victory over Geneseo

Junior Anthony Hall (Penfield, NY/ Palmyra-Macedon) hit two consecutive 3-point baskets with five minutes remaining in the second half to help The College at Brockport build a late lead and the Golden Eagles held on down the stretch as Geneseo rallied to cut the lead to a single point but two late missed shots by the Blue Knights gave Brockport the 59-58 victory Tuesday night in a State University of new York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game in Geneseo.

Hall's second 3-pointer gave Brockport (2-5 Overall, 1-0 SUNYAC) a six point lead and a layup by Hall two minutes later extended the lead to eight points at 57-49 with 2:32 to play. Geneseo (5-2, 0-1) scored the next seven consecutive points with a short jumper followed by a stole in-bound pass and a layup before a long 3-pointer made it a 57-56 score with 1:11 remaining in the contest.

Sophomore Gerald Williams (Rochester, NY/Charlotte) beat the Geneseo full-court pressure and drove in from mid-court for a layup for a three-point advantage but Geneseo answered with an inside basket to trim the lead to a point again with 46 seconds left. Brockport worked the clock down but missed a 3-pointer with 20 seconds left to give Geneseo the chance to take the late lead. The Knights missed a 3-pointer and a short jumper before Kyheem Green (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) grabbed the rebound to seal the victory.

Geneseo had the ball on its own baseline with one second remaining but the in-bound pass was stolen by Williams as the final buzzer sounded.

Green led scorers with 20 points and also led the Golden Eagles with 14 rebounds. Hall added 14 points hitting 4-of-7 3-pointers, Williams had 13 points and Zack McTigue (East Aurora, NY/East Aurora) added 10 points and 11 rebounds.
