Brockport Junior Kyheem Green (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) scored 19 points and snared a career-high 20 rebounds as The College at Brockport's men's basketball team defeated Geneseo 82-67 Friday night inside the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium.

Green posted his eighth double-double of the year, and upped his scoring average to 16.8 points per game for the Golden Eagles (8-9 overall, 6-4 SUNYAC), who used a 13-2 first half run to pull away from Geneseo (8-9, 2-8 SUNYAC).

Green made 7 of his 12 shots, and was a perfect 4-for-4 at the free throw line for the Golden Eagles, who swept the season-series with Geneseo. Brockport is currently in third place in the SUNYAC.

“We've been going after each other a lot in practice.” Green said after the win, “We haven't been a second half team, we always let teams get back against us, and we had to work a lot on that in practice.”

Junior Gerald Williams (Rochester, NY/Charlotte) added 17 points for Brockport and sophomore Stephen Sisson (Ballston, Spa, NY/Saratoga Springs), playing in his first game for Brockport, made 4 of his 6 three-pointers and finished with 12 points.

Junior Kazeem Are (South Orange, NJ/Columbia) added 11 points and made all three of his free throws as the Golden Eagles shot 89.5 from the charity stripe (17 of 19).

Trailing 11-10, Brockport responded with a 13-2 run, sparked by Sisson's hot shooting, to take a 26-13 with 9:11 remaining in the first half. The Golden Eagles extended their lead to as many as 15 points, 37-22, and took a 43-29 lead into halftime. Brockport's bench scored 16 first-half points.

Geneseo hung tough and trailed by only five, 51-46, before freshman Jon Ivy (Rochester, NY/East) made a layup and Are threw down a dunk to push the lead to 55-46. Freshman Dorian Hayden (East Northport, NY/Northport HS) hit two late free-throws to help Brockport seal the win.

The Golden Eagles return to action at 8 p.m. Tuesday night when Fredonia comes to the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium.
