Box Score

Sophomore guard John Ivy (Rochester, NY/East) scored a career-high 21 points as The College at Brockport came out with a much needed win against Potsdam Friday night, 62-57. The win brings the Golden Eagles record to 2-6 overall and 1-1 in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC).

Ivy shot 7-11 from the field and sank all six of his free throws in 25 minutes of action. Gerald Williams (Rocheter, NY/Charlotte) and Donnell Jackson (Rochester, NY/ Edison) both scored 13 points to assist Ivy in the scoring column.

Playing without starting forward Kyheem Green (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) who was out with an injury, the Golden Eagles got off to a slow start. Potsdam controlled the lead for the majority of the first half. With just under two minutes remaining, Williams sank two free throws to give Brockport their first lead since the 18:28 mark. Derek Klein (Valley Stream, NY/Long Island Lutheran) sank a three-point shot and Kazeem Are(South Orange, NJ/Columbia) converted a layup as the Golden Eagles went into halftime on a 9-0 run.

Brockport picked up where they left off in the second half, as they held the lead for the remainder of the game. Brockport built their biggest lead of the half to eight at the 10:40 mark as Ivy sank his only three-point shot of the night. Ivy sank two free throws with two seconds remaining to seal the victory for the Golden Eagles.

Brockport takes on Plattsburgh at 4pm tomorrow afternoon at Plattsburgh's Memorial Hall for another SUNYAC contest. Plattsburgh lost to Geneseo Friday night to drop their conference record to 1-3.
